How To Know When A Sales Rep Is Selling To You And NOT Styling You

Whenever you go shopping, you should always keep in mind that the sales people have a job based on their ability to sell to you. However, if they have passion in what they are doing and truly want the best for their clients, they will do their best to sell you on their service and only sell you pieces that fit who you are and who you want to be.
I've worked in fashion retail for over 7 years so I know how it works. I also know how to be the sales person that is after your money vs the person who is after your business. There really is a difference.. When you find the sales person that is after your business, either ensure you maintain a long-term relationship with him or her or figure out why you've chosen to do business with them and only do business with people who provide those things for you.

The sales person that is after your money will tell you something looks great on you even when it's hideous. They will ALWAYS find a reason for you to buy something and get you to believe that you need to buy something when you really don't. Have you ever purchased something that a sales person persuaded you to buy and then wondered what you were thinking when you got home? Or asked the sales person which item you should purchase and they always tell you the more expensive item? These are clues that you need to find a different sales person.

Something may not fit you and you know it doesn't fit you but because they are so good at selling, you've purchased that item because they've found a way to get you to believe that it fits you perfectly. They've probably told you something like, "the fabric will stretch so you really need the smaller size," or "it's supposed to fit loose" when they really just don't have the size you need and don't want to miss out on a sale to either gain commission or reach their sales goal.

If you have been susceptible to the sales person who is after your money and fallen for their tricks, you really need to find a sales person who is after your business. This person will have no problem telling you something looks terrible on you if you ask them. They would rather you leave and shop at another store than have you buy something that they know you'll return because it really wasn't the right item for you.

They look at the bigger picture,. They know if they build a lasting relationship with you, they'll have a client for life instead of a customer for the moment. They are patient with you and only suggest the best items for you because they've taken the time to get to know who you are and learn your style. They would hate for you to spend a lot of money with them only for you to regret it later because you'll probably never do business with them again.

Learn the difference between a sales person who is after your money and a sales person who is after your business and when you've found the right sales person for you, I can almost guarantee you shopping will be more of something you love to do and something that doesn't take up so much of your time.

I don't have that much sense of style so I usually rely on the stylists in the boutique to help with whatever I need and I've been fooled in the past but I think I've finally found a stylist that knows me and will lead me in the right direction!
