When I recently purchased these Givenchy earrings, I had no idea they were clip-ons as I was focused on matching them with the right necklace. I remember when clip-on earrings were almost like getting your ears pierced all over again because they pinched your ears so tightly (I assume it was so they didn't slip off your ears). But when I put these on, they felt comfortable just like earrings for pierced ears. I also realized that it's good to wear a pair of clip-on earrings every now and then. As you fluctuate from a heavy pair of earrings to clip-ons, your pierced ears are less likely to split (or at least won't split as fast) because they aren't going inside the piercing.
The drawback of wearing clip-ons is that they can easily slip right off the ear but I find that the same can be said for regular earrings. I don't know how many times I've worn a pair of earrings and lost them. Either the backing fell off or they unfastened and fell off my earlobe.
I wouldn't say it's better to wear clip-on earrings because I just don't see fashion evolving where the clip-on earrings become dominant over earrings for pierced ears. However, for those who love to wear unique and bold earrings, it's a good idea to fluctuate the two because unique and bold earrings are often heavy on your ears. Of course we could just stop wearing heavy earrings but that takes away the fun of accessorizing!
STYLE TIP: I would suggest investing in a pair that you can wear with all your looks and that will last such as these Barrera Gold Stick Clip-Ons since clip-ons can be hard to find. If you aren't able to invest in a pair, these Nordstrom Hoop Clip Earrings are a great choice as well.
