Personally, I used to wear sunglasses all year round and I currently live in an area where we get all four seasons in a year. I did this because I use sunglasses as a style statement. It was a part of my look. Some of them gave me a sophisticated look while others just matched my outfit. I had a small collection of sunglasses that allowed me to wear a different pair each day if I wanted to. I still use them as a hair accessory just to be different.
It's also beneficial for me to wear them in the winter because they block my eyes from the windy snow days that make it difficult to look straight ahead. Not to mention that sometimes it gets ironically sunny when it is -12 degrees outside and you need sunglasses to make sure you don't drive off the road.
But other than creating looks for your wardrobe and preparing for the weather, sunglasses are also worn by people who need to boost their confidence. Some of us prefer to take pictures while wearing sunglasses because we think we look better while wearing them as it allows us to hide some of our facial features and expressions.
There are also people who want to hide from the world and wearing sunglasses is a way to prevent intimidation. These people feel more comfortable when people can't look them straight in the eye.
Yet on a positive note, it allows some people to view the world differently as they literally see things differently from other people. This boosts your confidence because you stay true to your beliefs as you are constantly able to separate yourself from others, which is important to a certain extent.
It's starting to warm up and summer is quickly approaching so you'll start to see more people wearing sunglasses for the obvious reason. However, you'll notice that everyone is wearing their selected pair for a different reason and many times you'll be able to pick up on it. You'll discover the change in their character as it will reveal elements of their style and who they truly are.
